WATERBURY, Conn. -- It has been a busy season for Post University Women's Basketball both on and off the court as the Eagles added yet another recruit to their team for the 2024-25 season. Massachusetts native Jasmine Day-Cox will join Head Coach
Courtney Burns' team next season, coming over from Cathedral High School in Boston.
Day-Cox brings in a winning pedigree to Post University coming from a powerhouse school like Cathedral that after being named the Co-Champions of the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 4 back in 2020, had won four titles in five years. In 2020, Cathedral was ranked as the number two team in the state of Massachusetts entering that tournament which was cut short.Â
True to that ranking, during the 2022 Tournament Cathedral was the number one seed and earned a first-round bye before falling in the Round of 16 to Cohasset, 50-44. But last season, Day-Cox and the Panthers were back in the big game after once again securing the one seed and this time running the gamut of the bracket. All five tournament matchups were decided by double digits as the Panthers stormed their way to another championship with Day-Cox on the team. On February 9th of that season, Day-Cox scored her 1,000th career point in an 84-72 victory over Dracut. In the championship game, Day-Cox was one of four Panthers to score in double figures, leading the way with 19 points in the 75-53 victory over Wahconah.
Before coming to Cathedral in her junior season, Day-Cox attended John O'Bryant and during the 2021-22 season, she was named Boston City League 1st Team All-Star and Player of the Year as a sophomore. The Tigers made it to the 2022 Girls Boston City Championship against Latin Academy that season where they would fall 40-36.Â
