Amal Jha won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's Top XVII Award at last night's CACC Men's Golf Championship Banquet, marking the first time a golfer from the Post University Men's Golf program had received the honor before the Eagles kicked off the first two rounds of the championship today, finishing the day in fifth place out of the seven competing teams at 53-over-par.
The Top XVII Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the CACC championships. In order to be considered, the student-athlete must have earned at least 48 college credits toward their GPA (at their current institution), as well as a member of the active roster. Jha currently sits at a 3.99 grade-point average in his final semester before graduation from Post University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Heading into tomorrow's final round, Post sits 23 strokes off the pace of two-time defending champion Goldey-Beacom College, who defeated the Eagles by a single stroke last year, and Wilmington University who are tied atop the standings at 30-over-par. Nine strokes of the pace of those two teams is Dominican (N.Y.) at 39-over-par followed by Felician University at 47-over-par with 18 holes to play.
Senior
Joe Ensign got off to another hot start for the Eagles, finishing one-over-par in round one before falling back into a tie for sixth place after a six-over-par second round to finish seven-over-par on the day. Junior
Miles Maresch, who was not in the starting five for the first round of the championship, subbed in for freshman
Brandon Frye after round one today and finished five-over-par which put him on the leaderboard as fifth overall since he did not compete in both rounds.
Jha was the second-best golfer on the day among the five for Post as he was at 10-over-par following his two rounds to finish tied for 13th place with two other golfers after going from seven-over-par to three-over-par during his rounds. In a tie for 23rd-place was sophomore
Braden Shea who went from 10-over-par to nine-over-par across two rounds to finish at 19-over-par. Rounding out the field of Eagles was sophomore
Flo Schimek in a tie for 29th-place after a pair of 12-over-par rounds to finish 24-over-par.
Atop the field currently is Sacha Brown from Wilmington University at one-under-par while Dominican's Alexander Lundvall is in second at one-over-par and Goldey-Beacom College's Camilo Samur rounds out the top three at three-over-par.
