Women's Basketball Picked to Repeat as CACC North Division Champions in Preseason Coaches Poll

WATERBURY, Conn. -- In this year's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches Poll, Post University Women's Basketball was picked to repeat as the CACC North Division Champions for the fifth consecutive season, receiving 58 points overall and five first-place votes as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.

Head Coach Courtney Burns will head into her second season with a nearly all-new Eagles squad for the 2024-25 campaign in which Post was picked to win the North over Felician University who finished with 51 points and four first-place votes. Narrowly behind the Eagles and Golden Falcons were Dominican (N.Y.) in third with 50 points and two first-place votes followed by Caldwell University who received the other one first-place vote to go along with 40 points. The University of Bridgeport and Bloomfield College rounded out the six North Division teams at 29 points and 18 points respectively.

In the CACC South Division, Jefferson University, who is ranked 12th in the WBCA DII Preseason Coaches Poll, was picked to win with 64 points and nine first-place votes followed by Holy Family University in second with 57 points and the other three first-place votes. Chestnut Hill College and Goldey-Beacom College rounded out the South's top four with 45 points and 38 points respectively while Georgian Court University and Wilmington University garnered 26 and 16 points in fifth and sixth place.

For the new look Post team, there are only three returners from last year's team which was ousted in the CACC Quarterfinals by Goldey-Beacom College at home in seniors guards Naj White and Jayden Burns along with graduate forward Roxkel Washington. While all three saw between 6-20 minutes per game last year, none of them started more than nine games overall.

However, the Eagles reloaded with seven Division I transfers in Nicole Parks (Colgate), Emma Carman (Quinnipiac), Emelia O'Gilvie (Boston University), Hannah Finnerty (Siena), Alana Scott (Bryant), and Alyssa Rossignol (Niagara) who will look to fill the gap left behind by the eight outgoing seniors and graduate students from last year's team.

Five freshman also join Post in Kamryn Porter, Jaiyla Colon, Jasmine Day-Cox, Jackie Russell, and McKensi Forde. Four of those five are from the Northeast with Porter coming from Chicago, Illinois.

Last season, the Eagles finished 17-10 overall and 12-4 in conference to win their fourth straight CACC North Division Championship while boasting an impressive 11-1 record at home in the Drubner Center during the regular season with the one loss coming to nationally-ranked Assumption University to start the year. Post would be an early exit in the CACC Tournament, losing only their second home game of the season to Goldey-Beacom College by a 68-64 final score.

This season will kick off for Post University next Friday at 7:00 PM as the Eagles travel to the Saint Michael's Tip-Off to face Southern New Hampshire State University, a team they beat last year for the first time in program history at home, 57-51. Post will then take on Saint Michael's College next Saturday at 7:00 PM with both of these games taking place in Colchester, Vermont.
