WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the second straight week, graduate student
Annunciata De-Souza was recognized by the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in their weekly awards, this time earning an Honor Roll mention after winning Player of the Week honors as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
De-Souza continued her dominant start to the 2023 season, remaining perfect in singles play this year in the #1 and #2 slot at 5-0 while going 2-0 this past week in conference singles matches against Dominican (N.Y.) and Wilmington University. The graduate student got a break against Molloy University last Thursday from the singles, took down Dominican's Angelina Amelkina in the #1 Singles, 6-2 and 6-4, before defeating Kushi Khandoji with ease in the #2 Singles against the Wildcats on Friday, 6-3 and 6-2.
In doubles this past week, the graduate student continued to be paired with sophomore
Natalia Gonzalez Ramos in the #2 Doubles, as the duo went 1-2 with a 6-3 loss against the Lady Chargers before coming back against Molloy for a 6-3 victory on Thursday. De-Souza and Gonzalez Ramos duked it out against Fenna Swann and Gloria Barcaro of Wilmington in a match that would end up going to a tiebreaker in which the duo would fall 8-6 on tiebreaker.
Women's Tennis returns to the court tomorrow afternoon at home against Jefferson University at 3:00 PM. The match will take place in Middlebury, Connecticut at the Edgewood Bath and Tennis Club.
