WATERBURY, Conn. -- Graduate student
Annunciata De-Souza has been named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week for Post Unviersity Women's Tennis after going 3-0 in the #1 Doubles and 3-0 in the #1/#2 Singles last week for the Eagles as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.
De-Souza had a perfect week for Post University Women's Tennis to help the Eagles get off to a 3-1 start and begin 1-0 in conference play. The London, England native, who has now won seven consecutive doubles and singles matches dating back to last season, went 3-0 in both the doubles/singles before getting the day off against D'Youville University in their Sunday afternoon sweep of the Saints.
De-Souza made quick work of Marie Knispel in the #1 Singles to open the year against Assumption, 6-0 and 6-1, which would be her identical score against Zehra Canbaz from Goldey-Beacom College in the #2 Singles while a pair of 6-4 set wins against Maria Mella from Bentley in the #1 Singles was sandwiched between. Partnered with
Natalia Gonzalez Ramos in the #2 Doubles all week, the duo was able to win by scores of 6-3, 6-1, and 7-5 in their three matches together, making them 3-0 as a duo this season so far.
Post University will play four matches this week, including two conference matchups starting with Dominican (N.Y.) this afternoon at 3:00 PM before a road matchup with Molloy University on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 PM. The Eagles return home on Friday to face defending-CACC Champion Wilmington University at 1:00 PM then close the week at University of New Haven at 3:00 PM on the road.
