Box Score Garden City, N.Y. – The Post University men's soccer opened up its 2022 campaign with a thrilling 1-0 win over American International College (AIC) in a non-conference game on the campus of Adelphi University on Thursday afternoon.
After knocking on the door throughout the second half, the Eagles (1-0) finally broke through in the 84th minute as a volley from Gentian Selimi just inside the box after Diego Silva headed down a ball towards Selimi.
The goal for Selimi was the first of his career.
It was enough for the Eagles, whose defense kept the Yellow Jackets in check most of the day, allowing just two shots on goal, both of which were stopped by goalkeeper, David Mollenthiel. It was Mollenthiel's 11th career shutout in his career, and his 22nd win in net overall.
The Eagles outshot the Yellow Jackets (0-1), 9-4, with four shots on goal.
The three-time defending CACC champion Eagles will take stay on the campus of Adelphi to take on the host Panthers at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 27.
