Hooksett, N.H. - A goal from
Jake Raleigh 5:46 into overtime lifted Post University men's hockey team to a 3-2 win over Southern New Hampshire in the Northeast-10 finals to reach its first conference championship game in school history in just their second season in the conference.
With the game tied at 2-2, Raleigh took a pass from
Niko Grollman to give the Eagles their biggest win in program history and send them to the NE10 Championship. The No. 4 Eagles will play at No. 3 Assumption on March 5 at 6 p.m.
It was Raleigh's sixth goal of the season.
After a scoreless first period, the Eagles got on the board as
Patrick Murphy put home his eighth goal of the season just off the faceoff to put the Eagles up 1-0 at the two minute mark.
The Penmen would tie the game exactly three minutes later on a goal from Jake Cox and would take the lead at the 8:48 mark on a goal from George Thurston.
With the season hanging in the balance in the third,
Brandon Crowther scored on a power play off a pass from
John Krapian with just 4:38 remaining in the game to send the game into overtime. It was his sixth of the season.
Brandon Brown had his best game in net of his career, stopping 51 of 53 shots.
"Tonight was the definition of a team effort," head coach
