Men's Hockey Magical Run Falls Just Short In NE10 Championship Loss To Assumption

Worcester, Mass. - After a magical tournament run and holding a third period lead on Saturday evening, the Post University men's hockey team lost 4-3 tp Assumption in the Northeast-10 Championship game at the Worcester Ice Arena.

Post finishes their season 11-15-1.

After a scoreless period that saw goaltender Brandon Brown make 16 saves, the Eagles got on the board at the 4:53 mark of the second period as Niko Grollman got the puck on a breakaway and took a shot that trickled past Assumption goaltender, David Altman to give the Eagles the 1-0 lead.

The Greyhounds answered at the 10:04 mark on a power play goal from Devan Sheth to tie the game at 1-1.

Post once again took a one goal lead coming back with a power play goal of their own as John Krapian deflected the puck just after the faceoff for his team-leading tenth goal of the season, putting the Eagles up 2-1, a lead they took into the third period.

In the third, Assumption tied the game just 2:15 in as Dante Maribito made it a 2-2 game. Assumption took the lead at the 5:00 mark on a William Smith goal off a centering pass form Ronny Paragallo.

The Greyhounds added their final goal as Sheth scored on a two on one break, making it 4-2.

Post battled til the end and scored with 11 seconds left as Jack Endgahl as Evan Lugo fed the puck to him in front of the net for the goal. Post had one more chance with a faceoff in their own zone with six seconds left but were unable to get possession.

Brown finished with 37 saves on the night. He and Grollman were named to the All-NE10 Tournament team.

Sheth was named NE10 Tournament MVP.

Krapian was recognized as the Elite 24 winner for men's hockey, which recognizes the highest GPA in the conference.

"I could not be prouder of this group," head coach Pete Whitney said. "What they have accomplished in such a short period of time speaks volumes of how special they are."
