Winchendon, Mass. – John Krapian scored two goals and the Post University men's hockey team defeated Franklin Pierce, 3-2 on Sunday afternoon in a Northeast-10 game.
The win moves the Eagles to 7-13-1 on the season and 5-8-1 in the NE10 while the Ravens move to 6-12-1 overall and 3-7-1 in the NE10.
Post got on the board at the 10:52 mark of the first period on a 5-on-3 advantage as a shot from
Michael Karas was deflected in by
Evan Lugo to give Post the 1-0 lead. It was the second straight game with a goal for Lugo, who became the school's all-time NCAA leader in points in Saturday's 3-3 tie with Franklin Pierce. It was also Lugo's fourth goal of the season.
Post would head into the first intermission with the one goal lead before Franklin Pierce tied the game early on in the second at the 2:26 mark.
The Eagles got their lead back on Krapian's first goal of the game and fifth of the season when
Tommy Buis took a shot from the left circle that Krapian tipped in right in front of the crease to put the Eagles up 2-1. It was the Eagles' second power play goal of the game.
Krapian then added a much needed insurance goal in the third as Krapian took a rebound off a shot from
Kieran Gardner and put it in to give Post the 3-1 lead on their third power play goal of the game.
The Ravens added one more goal at the 18:35 mark for the final tally of the game.
Brandon Brown finished the game with 39 saves, including 19 in the final period. Post was 3-for-6 on the power play.
"The team wasn't satisfied with yesterday's game and regrouped and got the results we wanted this afternoon," head coach
Pete Whitney said.
Up next, the Eagles take on Stonehill on Feb. 11 at 8 p.m. at The Rinks at Shelton.
