Crowther Scores Hat Trick As Men’s Hockey Wins Third Straight

Shelton, Conn. – Brandon Crowther scored his first career hat trick as the Post University men's hockey team won its third straight game, a 6-4 win over Stonehill in a Northeast-10 game on Saturday afternoon at The Rinks at Shelton.

The win puts the Eagles at 9-13-1 overall and 7-8-1 in the NE10.

Post got on the board early, scoring twice within the first five minutes.

Tommy Buis got the Eagles going taking a centering pass from Connor Barter in the slot and putting it past Stonehill goalkeeper Connor Day for his second goal of the season.

Just over two minutes later, the Crowther scored his first of the game, skating into the slot and putting it past the glove side of Day as the Eagles went up, 2-0.

Stonehill responded with two in the first, tying the game before the first intermission.

The Eagles again went back up by two goals in the second period, scoring two power play goals. The first coming at the 3:14 mark as Evan Lugo scored on a backhanded shot in front of the net on a pass from Jake Raleigh, to put the Eagles ahead, 3-2.

At the 16:18 mark, Crowther added his second goal of the game. Buis ripped a slap shot at Day, who couldn't hold onto the puck, dropping it right in front of Crowther who put it back in the net for his fourth goal of the season.

Stonehill closed the gap just 1:02 into the third on a power play goal of their own, but 52 seconds later, Crowther found the net for the third time as he deflected the puck in front of the net off the shot of Patrick Murphy.

Post added an insurance goal at the 6:56 mark as Trey DeLoury as Lugo passed it from behind the net and DeLoury quickly put it in for his first career goal.

Lugo finished with two assists to go along with his goal and Kieran Gardner had two assists. The Eagles outshot the Skyhawks, 46-29.

In goal, Brandon Brown had 25 saves on the day.

It's the Eagles first three-game winning streak since the 2018-2019 season.

"Building Momentum in last night's game was key as we were able to continue that this afternoon in another complete team effort," head coach Pete Whitney said.

Up next, the Eagles close out their regular season with a road game at Saint Anselm on Feb. 15 at 4 p.m.
