Manchester, N.H. – The Post University men's hockey team rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period, but lost to Saint Anselm, 5-2 in their final Northeast-10 (NE10) regular season game.
The loss snaps a three-game winning streak for the Eagles who are now 9-14-1 overall and finish 7-9-1 in the NE10.
Down 2-0 early in the third period, the Eagles capitalized on a power play, as a shot from
Trey DeLoury deflected off the stick of
Jack Engdahl. The puck went directly to
Evan Lugo who found an open net to make it a 2-1 game. It was Lugo's eighth goal of the season. He has scored in five straight games and has gotten a point in the last seven games.
The Eagles tied the game at the 13:17 mark as Engdahl again assisted on a goal, this time, a pass across in front the crease to
Kieran Gardner who scored his fifth goal of the season.
Engdahl has five assists in his last four games and is tied for the team lead in assists with ten.
Saint Anselm responded just 48 seconds later on a goal from Alec Grace to take a 3-2 lead. Just 1:13 after Grace's goal, Chris Lemay made it a 4-2 game. He would add an empty net goal for the final tally.
Brandon Brown stopped 41 shots on the evening, his second highest total of the season.
The Eagles now wait for their opponent in the NE10 tournament, scheduled to begin on February 26.
