T&F And Cross Country Coach Gregg Schmidt Appointed Secretary Of Division II Track And Field Executive Committee

Men's and women's Track and Field and Cross Country head coach Gregg Schmidt was appointed Secretary of the NCAA Division II Track and Field Executive committee through the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Dana Schwarting, the men's and women's head coach of Lewis University was elected president and head Track and Field coach Tina Fernandes of Cal State University Los Angeles was appointed Vice President.

"I am honored to be appointed as the secretary for the Division II Track and Field Executive committee. I would like to thank Dana Schwarting for the appointment and look forward to working alongside him and Tina Fernandes and help from the sport of track and field at both Post University as well as throughout all of NCAA Division II. I would also like to thank my athletic administration at Post University for their support of myself and my program."

Schmidt has served as the the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) for the last four years and served as the conference rep for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Since arriving at Post in 2016, Schmidt's student-athletes have broken all but four school record.

During the 2019 indoor track and field season, Schmidt had six student-athletes named to the All-East Coast Conference team, and two athletes named to the All-East region team in the men's high jump and women's 400 meters.

In the 2019 outdoor track and field team he coached two athletes to All-East region in the men's 110 meter hurdles and men's triple jump. In 2018, he coached the CACC Track athlete of the year and an All-East region member in the women's 5,000 meters.

As a cross country coach at Post, Schmidt was the architect behind a three-time CACC women's champion (2016-2018) as well as an East Region title and NCAA Nationals appearance in 2018.

Prior to Post, Schmidt coached three national champions and 16 All-Americans. He coached at Mansfield University and American International College. At AIC, he produced two New England qualifiers and the school record holders in the heptathlon and pentathlon working with an indoor national champion in the mens 400 meter dash.

Schmidt also spent time as the assistant track and field coach at Lake Superior State University in the 2009-2010 season as an assistant track and field coach where he coached the outdoor national champion in the triple jump, who also finished tenth at the 2010 USA Championships.

Schmidt has also coached at Iowa Central Community College, where he coached 11 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Americans and two national champions. He also spent time at  Division I Valparaiso and Saint Lawrence University.
