Men’s Hockey Scores Three Power Play Goals In Win Over Albertus Magnus

New Haven, Conn. – The Post University men's hockey team snapped a four game winless streak as it defeated Albertus Magnus, 4-1 on Monday evening with the help of three power play goals.

The Eagles scoring started at the 6:57 mark in the first as junior William Francis took a pass from sophomore Niko Grollman and put it past goalkeeper Pierce Diamond to give Post the 1-0 lead.

Junior Jake Raleigh scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season at the 7:40 mark of the second period. Senior Lucas Smith and sophomore Michael Karas assisted on the first power play goal of the night for the Eagles.

Smith would also assist on the Eagles third goal of the game – another power play -  almost six minutes later as junior Anthony Giacomin scored his first goal of the season, giving the Eagles a cushion at 3-0.

Albertus Magnus scored their lone goal at the 12:01 mark of the third before junior Evan Lugo tacked a power play goal in at 19:29 on a pass from Giacomin.

Junior Brandon Brown was stellar in net, stopping 29 shots on the day. The Eagles (2-3-2) out shot Albertus Magnus, 40-30.

"The most complete game we have played so far this young season, head coach Pete Whitney said. "Overall the team showed good composure and executed the game plan well."

The Eagles will take on Saint Anselm at home on November 23 at 7 p.m. in an NE10 game.
