Shelton, Conn. – The Post University men's hockey team held a one goal lead after the second period, but lost after two late goals from Saint Anselm gave the Hawks the 3-2 win in a NE10 game.
Both goals the Eagles scored were on the power play. The first was at 8:08 in the first period as junior Evan Lugo took a pass from freshman Kieran Gardner and ripped a wrist shot past goalkeeper Michael Soustal to give Post the 1-0 lead.
The Hawks scored at the 12:30 mark in the period as both teams would be tied at 1-1 after the first 20 minutes.
At the 9:21 mark in the second, senior Lucas Smith scored his first goal of the season taking a centering pass from Lugo and putting a slap shot into the net to give Post the 2-1 lead, one they would take into the third period.
However, the Hawks scored two late goals as John Fernia scored at the 14:35 mark to tie the game at 2-2, followed by a Matt Chisolm goal on a wrister from a pass from Trey Aeillo on a power play to take the 3-2 lead at 15:48.
Junior Brandon Brown had 36 saves on the day. Senior Tyler Hackett won 15 of his 24 faceoff attempts.
