Pawtucket, R.I. – Sophomore Niko Grollman scored two goals and added an assist as the Post University men's hockey team used a big second period to propel it to a 5-3 win over Johnson and Wales (RI) in a non-conference match Friday night.
The Wildcats jumped on the board with two goals in the first before the Eagles scored its first of five power play goals. Freshman Kieran Gardner started the scoring action at the 17:46 mark taking a pass from senior Tyler Hackett and junior Evan Lugo to cut Post's deficit in half. It was Gardner's first career goal.
With the Eagles down 2-1 early in the second, Grollman scored his first goal on assists from junior Jake Raleigh and sophomore Harrison Sheldon to tie the game 1:07 into the period. No one would score until the 14:08 mark, when the Eagles once again scored its third power play of the game on a goal from freshman Nick Brewer who took passes from Grollman and senior Noah Wild to give the Eagles a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Less than two minutes later, Grollman would score his second goal of the game, this time Wild returned the favor with the assist, along with freshman Jack Engdahl at the 16:06 mark.
The Wildcats cut the score to 4-3 with a goal in the third, but the Eagles added insurance as Engdahl put the game away with a goal with 14 seconds remaining from senior Matt Moreschi and Hackett. 
Junior Brandon Brown stopped 16 shots in net for the Eagles.
"It was a bit of a bumpy start in the first but once we settled down we were able to take advantage of our opportunities especially on the power play. overall a good start to the season," head coach Pete Whitney said.
Up next, the Eagles take on Westfield State to open up its home schedule at 7:30 on November 7 at The Rinks at Shelton.
