Shelton, Conn. – Junior Jake Raleigh scored two goals as the Post University men's hockey team tied Westfield State, 3-3 in a non-conference match on Thursday evening at The Rinks at Shelton.
The Eagles now sit at 1-0-1 on the season.
After Westfield State got on the board 1:17 into the second period, Raleigh immediate responded just 37 seconds later on a pass from sophomore John Krapian to tie the game at 1-1.
Not long after, sophomore Niko Grollman scored his third goal of the season on a rebound off a shot from senior Noah Wild to make it a 2-1 game at the 3:21 mark.
Raleigh would score his second goal in the 16:17 mark of the second on a beautiful one timer from a Tyler Hackett pass to give the Eagles the 3-1 lead.
However, Westfield State answered twice in the third, on goals from Daniel Backstrom (3:59) and Justin Alves (6:13).
Junior Brandon Brown put on a clinic in net, stopping 56 shots on the day, his fourth highest total of his career.
Up next, the Eagles open up NE10 play as they host Assumption at 7:30 p.m. at The Rinks at Shelton on November 9.
