Concord, N.H. – Senior Kyle Hughes (Pulaski, N.Y.) shot a second round 2-over par 74 and helped lead the Post University men's golf team to a fifth place finish at the Penmen Spring Invitational on Sunday at Beaver Meadow Golf Course. The team shot a 36-over par 612.
Hughes finished with a 6-over par 150 (76-74) for the tournament, placing him tied for 12th overall. Junior Michael Erickson (Prospect, Conn.) finished a stroke behind (77-74) Hughes and tied for 15th.
Roberts Wesleyan won the team tournament with a 4-over par 580, six strokes ahead of host school, Southern New Hampshire.
Sophomore Anthony Guerrera (Watertown, Conn.) shot a 10-over par 154 (78-76), junior Antonio Lopez-Woodworth (Mexico City, Mexico) shot a 13-over par 157 (78-79) and senior Brendan McCormack (Watertown, Conn.) shot a 19-over par 163 (81-82) to round out scoring for the Eagles.
Erich Spitz of Roberts Wesleyan was the medalist for the tournament, finishing with a 3-under par 141 (73-68), two strokes ahead of Garret Olivar of Southern New Hampshire and Liam Donahue of Franklin Pierce.
The Eagles are currently ranked ninth in the East Region. They will learn on April 27th if they will be among the teams invited to the Atlantic/East Regional on May 7-9 at the Resort-Glade Springs in Daniels, WV.
