Wilson, N.C. – Senior Kyle Hughes (Pulaski, N.Y.) finished with a 11-over par 155 (78-77) as he helped lead Post University to a fourth place finish at the Barton Intercollegiate at Wilson Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
The Eagles finished with a 50-over par 626 (315-311). Mount Olive won the team tournament with a 20-over par 596 (305-291), two strokes ahead of Barton. Cape Fear CC rounded out the top three with a 41-over par 617.
Hughes score was good enough to finish in a tie for 15th. He was one of four Eagles to finish in the top 25. Sophomore Anthony Guerrera (Watertown, Conn.) finished a stroke behind Hughes and tied for 17th with a 12-over par 156 (76-80). Senior Brendan McCormack (Watertown, Conn.) was tied for 20th with a 14-over par 158 and junior Michael Erickson (Prospect, Conn.) was tied for 24th with a 16-over par 160. Classmate Antonio Lopez Woodworth (Mexico City, Mexico) finished with a 19-over par 163.
Bryson Boyette of Barton was the individual medalist with a 1-over par 145 (74-71), edging out Patrick Schweitz by two strokes.
Up next for the Eagles is the St. Thomas Aquinas Spring Invitational at Rum Pointe Golf Club in Berlin, Maryland on April 7-8.
