Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Eagles Grab Lead Twice, But Fall To Saint Anselm

The Eagles scored twice in the first period but allowed two goals in the third period which ultimately decided the game.

Noah Wild got the Eagles on the board first with some from Jake Raleigh and Michael Karas. For Wild, it was his second goal of the season. Raleigh's assist gives him a share of the team lead with five.

Saint Anselm answered back with a goal of their own in the first period, but but the Eagles answered right back with another go-ahead goal. This time Will Francis put one home with help from Evan Lugo. This was Francis' first point of the season. Lugo now has five assists which ties Raleigh for the team lead.

The second period was delayed by about 15 minutes due to a divot in the ice. The delay really changed up the flow of the game and Saint Anselm took full advantage by scoring a goal 35 seconds into the period. "After a very good start to the game in the second period we sagged a bit", Pete Whitney said. The Hawks added the go-ahead and eventual game-winning six minutes into the second period.

"I thought our response in the 3rd period was very good and we will build upon that moving forward", Whitney added. Post put together a much better third period than the previous night. They challenged the Hawks with a higher volume of shots and had more quality in their looks.

Post dominated the faceoff circle with six different players over .500: Tyler Hackett (17-4), Anthony Giacomin (14-10), Kieran Hurley (10-8), John Krapian (7-3), Noah Wild (2-0) and Matt Moreschi (2-0).

Brandon Brown collected 44 saves in net and faced a combination of difficult shots to stop.
