Brown Shuts The Door Late, But Eagles Fall To Golden Bears

Box Score

The Eagles started off in a 3-0 hole after Western New England netted the first three goals of the game. However, Evan Lugo and the Eagles put together a seven minute stretch that saw two goals and brought Post right back into the game.

Lugo scored first and brought his season point total to eight, which leads the team.

Next it was Tyler Hackett's turn to get on the board. Hackett ripped 11 total shots on the game and the one that found its way home was his first goal of the season.

The Eagles struggled in the faceoff circle, losing 46 and only winning 31.

Starting goalie Joseph McLeod was pulled in the second period after letting up three goals on 15 shots faced. He made way for Brandon Brown, who stopped all 19 shots he faced. Brown proved to be a spark for the Eagles, who scored their two goals shortly after the switch.

Two powerplay chances in the third period put the Eagles in a great position to find a game-tying score, but it never came. With less than two minutes left goalie Brandon Brown made his way to the bench to add an extra skater to the ice. The Golden Bears wasted no time taking advantage of the empty net and scored from the neutral zone to end the game.

Coach Peter Whitney on today's loss: "It was a disappointing effort based on how we played this past weekend. I thought we looked for the most part unprepared to play a dangerous opponent. Hopefully we recharge over the holiday, learn from the mistake and are ready to play at Skidmore."

Next Up:

The Eagles will participate in the Skidmore Thanksgiving invitational, November 24-25. Competing in the invitational will be Post University, Skidmore, Salve Regina and Bryn Athyn.
