MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 9-0 victory over Franklin Pierce on Monday afternoon in its home opener at Edgewood Bath & Tennis.
The No. 1 doubles duo of seniors
Liza Dubrovskaya (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) and
Brianna Miah (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) defeated Alana Wyatt and Sonia Rodrigues 8-2. Freshman
Annika Janson (Seeon, Germany) and junior
Jessica Bergen (Bethel, Conn.) took down Sarah Rich and Kelly O'Donnell 8-3. Juniors
Juliana Seabra (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and
Sarah Namazi (Waterbury, Conn.) won at No. 3 doubles 8-2.
Dubrovskaya, in her first action of the season, defeated Wyatt 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Janson and Begen each won their matches at No. 2 and No. 5, 6-1, 6-0. Miah, who earlier in the day was named to the CACC Weekly Honor Roll, picked up a 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 3. Seabra and Namazi did not drop a game in their wins.
Post returns to courts on Wednesday at home against Saint Thomas Aquinas. Match time is set for 3 p.m.
