MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's tennis team grabbed a key Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory on Tuesday afternoon. The Eagles defeated preseason favorite Chestnut Hill 5-4 at Edgewood Bath & Tennis.
Post began the day with victories in two doubles matches. Sophomores
Sarah Namazi (Waterbury, Conn.) and
Jessica Bergen (Bethel, Conn.) defeated Julia Bellon and Nicole Yang 8-3 in No. 3 doubles. Juniors
Liza Dubrovskaya (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) and
Brianna Miah (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) took down Louise Charley and Hannah Murphy in the top spot 8-4.
Namazi made quick work of Yang in No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-1 and Siku swept Bellon 6-0, 6-0. Sophomore
Madison Young (Wellington, New Zealand) clinched the match with a hard-fought 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win over Charley in No. 2 singles.
This is the first win for Post over Chestnut Hill in the all-time series.
The Eagles return to action on Thursday at New Haven. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
