MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's tennis won its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener on Wednesday afternoon 7-2 over Caldwell at Edgewood Bath & Tennis. The Eagles are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Post began the day with a sweep of all three doubles matches. Juniors
Liza Dubrovskaya (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) and
Brianna Miah (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) defeated Tamara Klimek and Rebecca Ryan in the top spot. Sophomores
Madison Young (Wellington, New Zealand) and
Sarah Namazi (Waterbury, Conn.) took a close 9-7 match at number two. Senior
Natasha Siku (Gaborone, Botswana) and sophomore
Jessica Bergen (Bethel, Conn.) won their match 8-1.
In singles, Dubrovskaya led the first set 6-5 before her opponent, Klimek, retired to give Post the point. Young defeated Ryan 6-0, 6-4. Namazi made quick work of Claudia Romano 6-0, 6-0. Miah won a hard-fought match over Jani Jimenez 6-3, 5-7, 10-2.
The Eagles visit LIU Post on Friday. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
