Eagles Battle Back From Late Deficit to Punch Ticket to CACC Championship

Post advances to fourth championship game in last six years

Box Score LAKEWOOD, N.J. – Junior Nicholas Strecker (Uncasville, Conn.) chipped in a goal off a cross from classmate David Ortiz Correa (Envigado, Colombia) on a counter attack in the 94th minute to complete an improbable comeback and send the Post University men's soccer team to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship game with a 4-3 victory over Caldwell on Friday.

"This was the most insane game I've been a part of as a coach. We didn't play well in the first, but I'm incredibly proud of the guys for the way they battled and the fight and heart they showed. Everyone rallied together and stepped up when it mattered," said head coach Ted Haley.

The Eagles found themselves down 3-1 with 20 minutes remaining in the contest after Joaquin Escudero scored for the Cougars. Just 36 seconds later junior Kenu Walker (Kingston, Jamaica) hit senior Abdallah Bah (St. Paul, Minn.) who chipped it in to cut the deficit to 3-2.

In the 89th minute, Bah struck again with a blast from the top left corner of the box to tie the game 3-3 and send the game into overtime.

The teams combined for 30 shots on the day and Post held a 17-13 advantage, but the Cougars outshot the Eagles 8-7 on goal. Senior Jon Hanlon (Centereach, N.Y.) made five saves on the day.

Post will play in its fourth championship game in the last six years on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in Lakewood, N.J. against the winner of this afternoon's tilt between #2 Georgian Court and #3 Wilmington.
