WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team begins its 2016-17 campaign on Friday night at home against Stonehill at 7 p.m. The Eagles return seven players from last year's team that finished fifth in the North. Post also welcomes back senior Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) who led the team in scoring and rebounding 2014-15.
 
SEASON IN REVIEW
Post finished with a 4-24 overall record and was 4-15 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play last season, but won two of its final three games to nearly clinch a conference tournament bid. Senior Tyra Jones (Rochester, N.Y.) is the Eagles' top returning scorer as she averaged 10.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game a year ago.
 
SCOUTING THE SKYHAWKS
Stonehill was 15-14 last year and 9-12 in the Northeast-10. The Skyhawks advanced to the conference tournament quarterfinal before falling to eventual champion Bentley. This year they were picked to finish second in the NE-10 Preseason Coaches' Poll. Junior guard Kelly Martin was named All-NE10 a year ago as she led Stonehill with 15.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game.
 
SERIES VS. STONEHILL
This marks the first time Post and Stonehill have met since the Eagles joined NCAA Division II in 2003.
 
PRESEASON PROGNOSTICATIONS
Post was selected to finish sixth in the CACC North Division in the preseason poll. The Eagles received 33 points as voted on by the league's 14 head coaches.
 
NEXT UP
The Eagles will visit Assumption on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. Next week Post takes a trip out west to play national runner-up and preseason #10 Alaska-Anchorage on Nov. 17-18.
