PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Post University women's tennis team defeated USciences 7-2 on Tuesday afternoon at the McNeil Family Courts in Philadelphia for their fifth straight victory. With a 7-2 overall record and a 5-0 slate in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, the Eagles have clinched at worst the third seed in the upcoming conference tournament with two leagues matches remaining.
Post began the day with victories in all three doubles matches. Juniors
Liza Dubrovskaya (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) and
Brianna Miah (Wesley Chapel, Fla.); and sophomores
Jessica Bergen (Bethel, Conn.) and
Sarah Namazi (Waterbury, Conn.) each took their matches 8-3 at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles respectively. The duo of senior
Natasha Siku (Gaborone, Botswana) and sophomore
Madison Young (Wellington, New Zealand) swept their match 8-0.
Namazi continued her strong singles play with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Gabrielle Soriano at No. 6, her sixth win in a row to improve to 8-1 overall. Young defeated Abbygail Gamarnik 7-6(7-5), 6-4 at No. 2. Siku earned her fifth consecutive win 6-3, 6-2 against Julia James. Bergen dropped the first set of her No. 5 singles match against Jullyan Serrano but rallied to win 4-6, 6-1, 10-3.
In a battle of the two remaining undefeated CACC teams, the Eagles will visit Goldey-Beacom on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m.
