PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The third-seeded Post University women's tennis team advanced to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship for the first time in team history on Saturday with a 5-0 victory over No. 2 Wilmington in the conference semifinals at Springton Tennis Club in Philadelphia, Pa.
The Eagles put themselves in great position with victories in each of the doubles matches. At No. 1, juniors
Brianna Miah (Wesley Chapel, Fla.) and
Liza Dubrovskaya (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) defeated Laura Gil and Begona Gomar 8-5.
The teams of sophomore
Madison Young (Wellington, New Zealand) and senior
Natasha Siku (Gaborone, Botswana); and sophomores
Sarah Namazi (Waterbury, Conn.) and
Jessica Bergen (Bethel, Conn.) each won their matches 8-4.
In singles, Begen made quick work of Lauren Kiger 6-0, 6-1. Miah clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Sabrina Blasi-Smith at No. 4. The final three singles matches were left unfinished.
Post will play top-seeded Goldey-Beacom for the championship on Sunday at 1 p.m.
