Suffern, N.Y. – The Post University men's golf team placed fifth at the Charger Challenge on Sunday, shooting a 56-over par 632 (323-309) for the two day tournament.
Concordia took home the team title with a 28-over par 604 (312-292), followed by Dominican, who finished seven strokes behind.
Freshman
Fredrik Rollve (Asker, Norway) was the top finisher for the Eagles, as he placed sixth with a 7-over par 151. The first round leader shot a 71 in his first round, followed by an 80 on Saturday. Sophomore
Josh Conlan (Sheffield, England) finished a stroke behind Rollve, tying for seventh with an 8-over par 152 (76-76). Freshman
Anthony Guerrera (Watertown, Conn.) also had a top ten finish, tying for tenth with a 9-over par 153 (79-74).
Sophomore Antonio Lopez-Woodsworth (Mexico City, Mexico) shot a 17-over par 161 (84-77), classmate
Matthieu Sicard (Marseille, France) shot a 19-over par 163 (80-83).
Kyle Hughes shot 12 strokes better in the second round than he did the first, carding a 76 on his way to a 20-over par 164. Another classmate,
Michael Erickson (Prospect, Conn.), who improved on his first round score by 16 strokes by shooting a 76 Saturday finished at 24-over par. Junior Brendan McCormick (Watertown, Conn.) shot a 26-over par 170 (87-83).
Mark Kilpatrick of Concordia was the medalist for the tournament, shooting a 69 in the final round to finish at 1-over par (76-69). He finished a stroke ahead of Elliot Wakefield of Nyack and Leonard Lee of Dominican.
Post will be the host of their next tournament, the Post Eagles Invitational from Oct. 10-11 at Watertown Golf Club.
