WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's tennis team was defeated by non-conference foe West Chester 5-4 on Tuesday at Edgewood Bath and Tennis. The Eagles also dropped a 5-4 match to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Wilmington on Sunday.
Against Wilmington, the Eagles grabbed one doubles match as senior
Natasha Siku (Gaborone, Botswana) and sophomore
Sarah Namazi (Waterbury, Conn.) defeated Lauren Kiger and Sabrina Blasi-Smith 8-0 at No. 3.
Junior
Liza Dubrovskaya (Rostov-on-Don, Russia) defeated Anushka Sath 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Siku and Namazi also won their singles matches. Siku defeated Blasi-Smith 6-0, 6-2 and Namazi grabbed a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kiger.
Namazi continued to roll against West Chester as she won both her matches and is now 18-6 in singles and doubles combined this year, the best record on the Eagles. She paired with sophomore
Jessica Bergen (Bethel, Conn.) at No. 3 doubles to defeat Stephanie Cifarelli and Alyssa Rees 8-5.
In singles action, Namazi took down Cifarelli 6-0, 6-2. Dubrovskaya earned a 6-2, 6-4 win at the top over Claire Uhle. Siku defeated Abriana Nolan in three sets 7-6 (7-3), 3-6, 10-1.
Post is now 7-5 on the season and 5-2 in CACC play heading into its final three matches of the regular season. The Eagles return to action on Friday at home against Queens at 1 p.m.
