Keene, N.H. - Freshman Amber Thompson-Newth (New Zealand) shot a 76 to lead after the first round in the women's Franklin Pierce Invitational at Bretwood Golf Course. She leads by 22 strokes over second place Camila Andalis of St. Rose.

Sophomore Kyle Hughes (Pulaski, N.Y.) shot a 78 to lead the Post University men's golf team to a combined first round 320 to put them in sixth place on the men's side after the first round of the tournament.

Bentley finished with a 299 to lead after the first round, followed by Southern New Hampshire (300), Franklin Pierce A (309), Nyack (314) and Assumption (315).

Freshman Michael Erickson (Prospect, Conn.) finished with an 80 and senior Patrick Hartnett (Addison, Ill.) and freshman Jose Luis Martinez (Mexico City, Mexico) both finished with an 81 for the Eagles. Joshua. LaCasse of Southern New Hampshire holds the first round individual lead with a 71.
