Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team looks to snap a two-game losing streak as it takes on Dominican in a key CACC North Division matchup at the Drubner Center on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
The Eagles, are currently 5-14 overall, but are 5-5 in the CACC, putting them in fourth place in the North Division, which is currently the final spot for the conference tournament.
Post is coming off of an 80-50 loss to Holy Family on Sunday. They held strong during a back and forth first half, but a big run early on in the second half turned the tide in favor of the Tigers. Junior
Deaisia Acklin (Bronx, N.Y.) led the team in scoring in the game with 11 points. Freshman
Nicole Viselli (Groveland, Ma.) scored eight points and sophomore
Jessica Ayala (Middletown, N.Y.) scored eight points off of the bench.
Top Ten ListAcklin is currently ninth in the CACC in scoring at 14.3 points per game. She is also third in field goals made with 98 and second in free-throws made with 73. Defensively she has also been a pest to opposing teams, racking up 38 steals, which is good for fifth in the CACC.
Also cracking the top ten in key statistical categories is freshman
Lexus Childs-Harris. Childs-Harris is fifth in the CACC in free throws made with 68 and ninth in steals with 34.
Charging AheadThe Dominican Chargers come into Wednesday night's tilt with an 8-11 overall record and a 6-4 record in the CACC. They currently sit in third place in the CACC North, one game ahead of the Eagles. The Chargers have lost two of their last three games, but are coming off of a 67-65 thrilling win at Georgian Court on Jan. 25. In that game, Deja Gabbidon was fouled on a made layup and hit the free throw with three seconds left to give the Chargers the win. The Chargers are led by Lisa Bouffard, who averages 13.1 points per game.
