Recap: Eagles Lose Final CACC Game

Eliminiated From Playoff Contention

Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team dropped its final Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game (CACC) of the season as it dropped a 79-67 decision to Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J. The loss eliminated the Eagles from CACC playoff contention. It was the third straight loss for the Eagles.

Senior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) led the Eagles with 29 points in the game. Freshman Jessica Ayala (Middletown, Conn.) finished with 12 points.

The Eagles and Lions (4-21, 4-21 CACC) kept it close throughout the first half, as both teams could not sustain supremacy throughout. The Lions went up 17-10 early on, but the Eagles quickly rebounded, eventually ending the first half on a 10-4 run to end the half, going up 40-34. Latham scored five points during the run.

The Eagles sustained the lead for the first 12 minutes of the second half and were up 57-53, but the Lions closed out the game with a 26-10 run to end the game as Octivia Booker and Tahira Matthews took over the game. They finished with seven and 21 points respectively. Matthews also had 14 rebounds. Liz Lawler had 16 points off of the bench

The loss eliminated the Eagles from CACC playoff contention as Dominican and Felician both won their respective games.

Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.) and junior Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) both finished with eight points. The Eagles made 15 of their 22 free throw attempts.

The Eagles ended their CACC season with a 9-0 record and are now 9-16 overall with one game left. They play at Mercy in an out of conference game on Feb. 25 to close out their season.
