Recap: Eagles Lose Second Straight

Need Win And Help To Get Into CACC Playoffs

Box Score

Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team dropped a key Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) as it lost 83-73 to the Dominican Chargers. It was the second straight loss for the Eagles in as many nights. They are now 9-15 overall and 9-9 in the CACC.

Senior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) led the Eagles with 23 points and senior Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.) had another double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Post was down 11-3 early on before a Latham three-pointer sparked a 25-5 run to give the Eagles a 24-16 lead with 6:52 left in the half. It would be a lead the Eagles wouldn't relinquish the rest of the half, as they would go up 37-31 at halftime. Latham had 15 points in the half and the team didn't miss a free-throw in the half, going 9-for-9.

The lead did not last as long as the Eagles would have liked, as Dominican jumped out to a 15-6 run to start the half and taking the lead for good at the 15:06 mark after a Lashonda Hathorne jumper.

Dominican (11-13, 9-8 CACC) would go up by as much as 11 points, but would not allow the Eagles to go on any runs the rest of the way, matching them bucket for bucket for nearly the final nine minutes of the game as Hathorne erupted for 20 of her 24 points in the second half.

Sophomore Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) finished with 12 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles. Freshman Liz Falcigno also finished with 12 points.

Dominican's leading scorer, KC Jentzen finished with 20 points.

With the loss, the Eagles did some damage to their CACC playoff hopes. They will now need to win at Georgian Court on Saturday (1 p.m.) and would need Felician to lose one of its last two games or have Dominican lose its final two games. If all teams are tied at 10-9 to end the season, the Eagles would not get in.
