Waterbury, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team will take on the Holy Family Tigers in Philadelphia on Saturday, Jan. 25 at 1 p.m. in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference matchup. The Eagles are coming off of a 93-66 defeat from the hands of Felician on Jan. 22. Senior Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.) notched a double-double for the Eagles with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Liz Falcigno (Middletown, Conn.) led the team in scoring for the night with 14. Newly crowned all-time scoring leader, senior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) finished with 11 points.
Soaring Near The Top
Latham is currently the leading scorer in the conference, averaging 23.2 points per game, one tenth of a point ahead of Tenicia Spence of Wilmington. Latham -37.0 pct. - and sophomore Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) – 36.5 - are ranked seventh and eighth in the CACC in three-point percentage, respectively.
Wright-James is sitting fourth in defensive rebounds per game in the CACC with 7.5 boards per game.
As a team, the Eagles lead the conference in points per game at 77.9, more than five points ahead of their closest competitor, Philadelphia.
Looking For Their First 'W'
The Eagles and Tigers have met 18 times previously in their history, with the Tigers winning all of the games, including their matchup last season, a 75-63 triumph at the Drubner Center. The Tigers were ranked eighth in Division II at the time.
In that game, the Tigers jumped out to an 11-point halftime lead and were able to ward off any threat from the Tigers in the second half. Griffin led the team in scoring with 15 in that game. Latham finished with 10 and Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) finished with 13 points.
A Look At Holy Family
Holy Family is currently the top team in the CACC, and is in first place in the South Division with a 10-5 overall record, and an 8-0 record in conference.
Four players average double figures in points for the Tigers, with Erin Fenningham (11.3 ppg) and Carolyne Heston (11.0) leading the way. The Tigers are fourth in defensive points per game, allowing just 64.2 points on average. They lead the conference in defensive field goal percentage (35.1) and defensive three-point field goal percentage (26.1).
