No. 12 Men’s Soccer Defeats Franklin Pierce, 1-0

Moura Scores Lone Goal For Second Consecutive Game

RINDGE, N.H. – No. 12 Post University men's soccer picked up its second win of the season on Wednesday night with a 1-0 victory at Franklin Pierce. Post played a man down for most of the second half after senior Joe Baccielo (Stratford, Conn.) picked up his second yellow card in the 68th minute.  
 
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Co-Player of the Week, sophomore Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) scored the lone goal for the Eagles. He took a stretch pass in the 14th minute from sophomore Francisco Sastre (Sao Paulo, Brazil), dribbled to the center of the box and fired it to the upper right past Ravens' goalkeeper Sam Meza. The sophomore has tallied goals in each of the Eagles' games this season.
 
Post (2-0-0) had a chance to extend the lead in the middle of the first half. Sastre headed a shot that was saved by Meza, senior Henry Ipina (Danbury, Conn.) shot off the rebound, but couldn't find the back of the net.
 
Franklin Pierce (1-2-0) outshot the Eagles 18-9 in the match, but only four were on target. Post tallied six shots on goal on the night. Moura led Post with three shots, Baccielo added two shots before receiving his second yellow card.
 
Senior goalkeeper Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) recorded four saves in his second-consecutive shutout.
 
The Eagles open the home and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) portion of their schedule on Sunday, Sept. 15 against Chestnut Hill. First touch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
