Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team lost its regular-season finale on Thursday night as it fell to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe USciences at home, 75-53. Four Eagles finished with double-figure scoring efforts in defeat, led by sophomore Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) with 16 points.

Junior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) scored 13 points to go along with four rebounds and three steals. Graduate student Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 12 points and grabbed five boards. Junior Jessica Webber (Naugatuck, Conn.) was 2-for-3 from distance and added 10 points.

After a three-pointer by Kaitlyn Schmid put USciences ahead 21-14 with 9:29 remaining in the first half, the Eagles responded with a 7-0 run to tie the game at 21-21. Webber, Chance, and Latham each had a basket during the comeback.

The Devils stormed ahead with a 15-0 run from there to grab control of the game at 36-21 with 2:18 left in the period. USciences hit three from distance to pull away. Pugh scored five points in the closing minutes of the half as Post went into the intermission down 38-26.

The Eagles could never cut the deficit to single-digits in the second half. After the Devils pulled ahead 54-34, Latham and Webber hit back-to-back jumpers to trim the USciences lead to 54-39 with 13:19 remaining. The Devils led by as many as 24 as they won their fourth-straight game.

Post committed a season-low 10 fouls in the game. The Eagles were 13-for-17 from the line in defeat. USciences outrebound Post 41-27, but only held a slim 23-21 advantage on the defensive glass. Brianne Traub led the Devils with 16 points.

The Eagles will be back in action in the first round of the CACC Playoffs on Saturday, March 2. Post will either be the third or fourth seed depending on the outcome of the Concordia vs. Caldwell game on Saturday, Feb. 23. If Concordia loses, the Eagles are the third seed, but the Clippers earn the third seed with a win.
