Waterbury, Conn. - The Post University women's basketball team held the lead at halftime for the second straight time against Southern Connecticut State University, but couldn't put the game away, dropping a 91-82 decision to the Owls.

Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.) led four Post players in double figures with 25 points on 7-for-13 shooting as well as shooting 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. Sophomore
Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) chalked up her second double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and snagging 11 rebounds.
The first nine minutes of the game were neck and neck, as both teams traded buckets, until the Eagles were able to go on a mini 8-0 run to jump ahead, 22-15. During that stretch, senior
Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) scored four of her 14 points on the night.
The Owls would mount a comeback, eventually tying the game at 31 with 5:25 remaining, but a 10-4 run by the Eagles gave them a 41-35 lead at the break. Freshman
Liz Falcigno (Middletown, Conn.), Wright-James, Latham and Griffin each contributed during the run.
Keshia Primo led the Owls in the first half in scoring with 13 points.
The second half started off wild, as the Owls and Eagles traded 6-0 and 7-0 runs, respectively to begin the half with both teams turning the ball over multiple times before the Owls would gain their footing and go on an 11-0 run to take a three-point lead at 51-48 with 15:02 left.
The two teams would trade baskets back and forth for the next five minutes, with a layup by
Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.), making the game 62-60 in favor of the Owls, but a Nicole Grossbard three-pointer helped jump-started a 16-5 run to put the game away, as the Eagles would get no closer than sox points the rest of the way.
Pugh would finish the game with 15 points. Latham now sits at 1,435 points for his career and is now 75 points away from breaking the school's all-time scoring mark of 1,510 held by 2002 graduate Tracey Garofolo.
Both teams finished with 25 second chance points each as the teams combined for 38 offensive rebounds.
Before the game, both teams honored the one year anniversary of the Sandy Hook school shooting with t-shirts and a moment of silence.
