Eagles Drop Non-Conference Matchup At NYIT

Post Outscored 56-21 In Second Half

Box Score

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - Despite a close first half and a double-double from senior Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.), the Post University women's basketball team dropped a 101-60 decision to New York Institute of Technology (NYIT) on Sunday afternoon in a non-conference matchup in Old Westbury, N.Y.
The game was close for the entire first half as Post's deficit throughout the first half was no bigger than six points. Whenever the Bears looked to go on a run, the Eagles were able to answer. The Bears would go into the locker room up 45-39.
In the first half, senior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) scored 11 points on 3-for-6 shooting, including one three-pointer. Wright-James almost completed her double-double feat in the first half, with seven points and nine rebounds. Shannon Duer led the Bears at halftime with 15 points.
The Eagles outshot the Bears from the field as Post shot 12-for-26 from the field for 46.2 percent, while NYIT was 17-for-39 from the field at 43.6 percent. The Eagles out rebounded the Bears as well in the first half at 25-15.
The second half started off much the same way the first half did, as the teams traded field goals and free throws throughout the first four minutes of the game, but the Bears would start pulling away with 15 minutes left in the game, going on  31-6 run over the course of eight minutes to give the Bears an 83-51 lead with 7:20 left. During that run, the Eagles made just three field goals.
There wasn't much doubt the rest of the game and the Bears won 101-60, improving to 2-2 on the season. The Eagles are now 3-5 and 3-0 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), good for first place in the North Division.
Latham finished with 13 points on the game.
In the second half, the Eagles shot 21.7 percent from the field (5-for-23) to 56.1 percent for the Bears. Duer led all scorers with 27 points. Maddison Campbell finished with a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Bears.
Up next for the Eagles is a CACC matchup at Wilmington on December 7th at 3 p.m.
