WATERBURY, Conn..- The Post University Intercollegiate Dressage team traveled to its first fall show on October 6, hosted by UCONN at the Storrs, Conn. campus. The following weekend, the Dressage team traveled to Burlington, Vermont for a weekend of riding and competing on October 12 and 13 at a show hosted by University of Vermont.
The Dressage team's first show of the semester at UCONN was very successful. Senior and Team Captain
Kelsey Stinneford from Woodbury, Conn. rode in First Level and took home first place with an outstanding score of 80%. Katherine Doria, a freshman student from Stormville, New York, rode in Upper Training level with a score of 72% to earn seventh place. Riding in Lower Training Level, sophomore student
Rachel Draper of Preston, Conn. scored a 65% to take home eighth place. Lemonia Fotinos, a freshman student from Wappingers Falls, New York, took ninth place with a score of 71%.
UCONN has added some interest to their shows in the last year with a non-point-bearing Dressage Equitation class at each level. This class serves the Post riders well.. In the Dressage Equitation class Stinneford took first place out of five in First Level, , and Miriam Beran took first place out of six in Lower Training Level.
For their second show the Dressage team traveled to Burlington, Vt. to compete at the show hosted by the University of Vermont on October 12 and 13. Stinneford, riding in First Level, scored 61% to take eighth place, and 60% on Sunday to take eighth place. Doria scored 64% in Upper Training Level to earn sixth place on Saturday and 58% on Sunday to earn sixth. Fotinos scored 64% on the first day in Intro and earned ninth place, while scoring 56% on Sunday. Beran rode in Lower Training level to score 65% and take seventh place, Draper rode in Lower Training Level on Sunday to score 55% and take eighth place.Â
