Freshman Dressage Rider Wins Against Odds

Post University's Intercollegiate Dressage (IDA) team rode a double-header on the February 21st & 22nd at Mount Holyoke College, fielding one team each day.  Saturday's team faced multiple challenges, with one member recovering from injury, one member recovering from illness, and Carlie Serif riding her first-ever dressage test.  Megan Howe and Caitlin McKeon-Nicholls finished their tests in 5th place and Taylor Rosnov's score put the team in 7th place overall. Sunday's performance featured Serif, who overcame the odds and won her class at Introductory, missing Reserve High Point of the day by 0.16 %.  Megan Howe and Lilly Stokes also supported the team with lovely rides at First and Upper Training Level.  Chelsea Conklin did well in her first ride at Lower Training Level.

 Mt. Holyoke College IDA Dressage Show Results
February 21-22, 2008

The Post University Dressage team rode in back to back shows Feb 21st and 22nd at Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass. The horses at the College had had a virus over the winter break, so not enough horses were fit for the work.  Each show was therefore limited to 9 teams.

Riding on the 21st were Megan Howe at 1st Level, Caitlin McKeon-Nichols (slightly injured from a fall on the ice), Taylor Rosnov (recovering from a bout with the flu) and Carlie Serif as a first time Dressage rider.  Carlie would have placed but she made "an error on course" and was just out of the ribbons. The team placed 7th overall on Saturday.

On Sunday the team was Megan Howe, Lily Stokes riding Upper Training for the first time for this team, Chelsea Conklin, moving up from Introductory rode her first Lower Training Level test and Carlie Serif, who overcame the odds and won her class at Introductory.  She missed the Reserve High Point of the day by 0.16 %. Our total of 7 points for the team kept us out of the placings.

The next show will be another back-to-back event at University of Massachusetts on April 4th and 5th.
