2nd Place for Post University's IDA TEAM
WATERBURY, Conn (October 22, 2009) – Post University's Dressage Team co-hosted the 2nd IDA Show of the Fall 2009 Season at the University of Connecticut on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at Storrs. CT. Luckily the weather held out for the day and everyone worked hard to make the show run smoothly. An added bonus was that the Post University A Team finished 2nd Overall in the Team Placing –an outstanding result for a small school in this difficult format and especially considering most of the team is new to dressage. Congratulations to Coach Jennifer Ford and the whole Post University IDA Team.
Post University senior Michele Lomba of Westport, MA, had a great ride on Kingpoint, an 8 yr. old, 17.3h, Oldenburg gelding, scoring a 70.83% in First Level and winning her class. This was an especially rewarding day for Michele, who broke her femur last spring - this was her first time competing since then AND her first time showing at First Level. Her family was at the show to see her ride, so everyone was thrilled for her.
Other notable rides came from Alyssa Segala of Prospect, CT, who rode Gideon, an 8 yr. old 17.1h, Draft Cross to a 2nd place in Upper Training with a score of 70.40 %. This was notable because Alyssa is very petite at 5'3, but still got a 'good tune' out of this rather large horse. Two team members rode as alternates - Lilly Stokes, a senior international student from Germany, rode on the mixed team and scored a 65.28% placing 4th; and Taylor Rosnov, a junior from Natick, MA, rode for the UMASS Team B which ended up placing 4th Overall.
The Post University Equine Department expressed their thanks to all of the volunteers including the Post University Equestrian and Dressage Teams and others from equine program, the UCONN Equestrian and Dressage Teams, and all who generously gave up their Saturday to help out. The show was a huge success and it couldn't have been done without them. Congratulations to everyone for a great day!
