No. 15 Men’s Soccer Wins Fifth Straight 1-0 Over Caldwell

Sastre Scores Goal In Third Consecutive Game

Box Score

CALDWELL, N.J. – Sophomore Francisco Sastre (Sao Paolo, Brazil) scored in his third consecutive game as the No. 15 Post University men's soccer team won its fifth straight with a 1-0 victory at Caldwell on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play on the season.

Sastre scored the game-winner for the second straight game. He took a pass on the right side from freshman Armando Filho (Cataguases, Brazil) in the 81st minute. Sastre hit it past the keeper to the right corner of the net for the score.

"It was a battle. Their keeper came up huge with some massive saves," said head coach Ted Haley. "We kept playing our game and finally broke through."

After both teams taking six shots in the first half, Post took control in the final period as it held an 11-3 advantage in shots and 7-4 in shots on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) recorded his sixth clean sheet of the year and tied his season-high with four saves. Sophomore Raphael Moura (Danbury, Conn.) and junior Terrell Whitting (Naugatuck, Conn.) each took four shots. Moura had three shots on goal.

The Eagles continue their road trip against Wilmington on Saturday, Oct. 5. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
