Moore Scores For Eagles

Box Score

Waterbury, Conn. – Valerie Moore (Bloomfield, Conn.) scored her third goal of the season, but it was not enough to defeat the Bloomfield Lady Deacons as the Eagles dropped a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference game to them at LaMoy Field in Waterbury, Conn.

The Lady Deacons jumped on the board early as Alicia Galiano took a pass from Dani Andreas from about 25 yards out near the left corner of the 18 yard box and bent a shot in over the outstretched arms of Eryka Baez (Clifton, N.J.). The goal was Galiano's second of the season.

The Eagles (5-7, 3-5 CACC) responded quickly in the ninth minute as Moore took the ball at midfield, dribbled the ball down, outsprinting two defenders and put it in the lower right side of the net for her third goal of the season.

The Eagles had opportunities throughout the first half to break the tie but Tessa Dunster (Stamford, Conn.) and Lexxi Carroll (Plainville, Conn.) had their shots stopped by Sashagay Spence. Spence finished with nine saves on the day.
The game would go into the half tied at one apiece.

The game would stay tied for a while in the second half, until Bloomfield's (4-7-1, 3-3-1 CACC) Sammy Bucknell's cross into the penalty area found the foot of Ziasia Gordon, who just entered the game moments earlier and put into the right side of the net. It was Gordon's first goal of the season.

The Eagles outshot the Lady Deacons, 17-13. Baez had six saves on the day in her third game of the season.

Up next for the Eagles will be at first-place Georgian Court in a CACC matchup at noon on October 19th.
