Eagles Erase 20-Point Deficit At Felician For Tenth Win Of The Season

Post Outscores The Golden Falcons 22-5 Over Final Eight Minutes

RUTHERFORD, N.J. – After finding itself down 34-14 late in the first half, the Post University women's basketball team stormed back for a 64-57 victory at Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) foe Felician on Tuesday night. The Eagles used a late 20-2 run to tie their conference win total from a year ago and now sit at 10-11 overall and 8-6 in CACC play.
 
Junior Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) led the Eagles with 25 points. Freshman Hailey Griffin (Plainfield, Conn.) made three from distance on her way to 11 points and four rebounds. Graduate student Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) recorded her fourth straight double-digit rebound effort with 12 boards on the night. Junior Fernanda Mansilla (Ancud, Chile) dished out eight assists and grabbed seven rebounds.
 
The Eagles were behind 52-42 with 8:07 remaining but held the Golden Falcons scoreless for the next 7:45 as Post powered ahead with a 20-2 run. Jumpers by Chance and Mansilla sparked the stretch. Junior Jessica Webber (Naugatuck, Conn.) gave the Eagles their first lead of the night at 55-54 with a free-throw with 2:36 remaining.  Post went 5-for-6 from the line down the stretch to seal the victory.
 
A layup by Keisha Jean-Louis put Felician ahead 34-14 with 4:48 remaining in the first half. The Eagles slow climb back into the game began with a 12-4 run to close out the period. Sophomore Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) found Griffin behind the arc on back-to-back possessions as the Eagles hit three from distance over the final 2:58 to head into the break down 38-26.
 
Post continued the comeback to start the second half as it opened with a 12-6 stretch to pull within six at 44-38 at the 13:39 mark of the period. Latham scored seven points during the stretch. A free-throw by Pugh at 10:27 closed the deficit to four at 46-42.
 
The Eagles forced the Golden Falcons into 10 second-half turnovers which led to 13 points. Post was outrebounded 45-44, but held a 26-20 advantage on the glass in the second half.
 
Post welcomes No. 8 Holy Family to the Drubner Center on Saturday, Feb. 2. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
