MANCHESTER, Conn. – The Post University men's and women's cross country teams kicked off the 2012 season on Saturday at the Trinity Invitational at Wickham Park in Manchester, Conn. 104 men ran a 5k course, while the 84 women competed on a 4k course.
Sophomore
Jesse Perez (Waterbury, Conn.) was the Eagles top men's finisher and 60
th overall at a time of 19:32. Junior
Veronica Blekis (Plymouth, Conn.) was Post's top women's finisher and 51st overall at 20:14.
Freshman
Rob Gaertner (Wantagh, N.Y.) ran the course in 20:33 and finished 75
th overall. Sophomore
Amber Reed (Bristol, Conn.) had a time of 22:27, good for 73
rd place.
The men finished 11
th out of twelve teams with a total time of 1:44:29. American International's Glarius Ropp (15:55) and Jeptui Cherutich (16:22) were the top men's and women's finishers, respectively. The Yellow Jackets also placed first as a team in the men's race at 1:23:47. Hartford was the top women's team at 1:28:08.
Both the men and women will be back in action on Friday, Sept. 14 at the Mitchell Invitational in New London, Conn.
