BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – The Post University men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven straight games after a 3-1 victory over Concordia in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road match on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles got a goal and an assist from junior forward
Joe Baccielo (Stratford, Conn.), the reigning CACC and ECAC Offensive Player of the Week.
Additionally, freshman
Andre Lindsay (Clarendon, Jamaica) earned the triumph in his first collegiate game in goal for Post (5-1-2, 3-0-2 CACC). He made four saves for the Eagles in the win. Sophomore
Gustavo Ferreira (Betim, Brazil) netted his second goal of the year for Post.
Ferreira put the Eagles on top in the fifth minute of the match off a feed from Baccielo. Baccielo connected with Ferreira at the top of the box, and Ferreira netted the marker into the bottom right corner of the goal. Post maintained the 1-0 lead into the intermission.
After Post took a 2-0 lead in the 47
th minute, Jesus Alvarez-Riesco pulled Concordia (2-6-1, 0-4-1 CACC) within one, 2-1, in the 72
nd minute of the contest as he took a shot that went past Lindsay into the bottom right corner of the net.
Baccielo extended the Post lead back to two, 3-1, in the 78
th minute with his 11
th tally of the season. After a Clippers' turnover left the ball with sophomore
Terrell Whitting (Naugatuck, Conn.), Baccielo blasted a shot into the right side of the goal.
In the match, Post held a 23-11 advantage in shots and an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. For the season, Post is 5-0-2 when Baccielo scores a point.
The Eagles will face a tough test as they travel to #15 Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, Sept. 29. Match time is slated for 7 p.m.
