WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team trailed by as many as 16 points in the second half, but battled back to defeat Concordia 72-68 at Drubner on Tuesday, Feb. 7.
Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds, her third 20-plus rebound output of the season.
The Eagles came out of the locker room in a 40-27 hole, which Concordia extended to 46-30 with a n Alyssa Dawson layup at 17:41. Down 51-36 with 14:03 remaining,
Casey Brooks (Highland, N.Y.) nailed a three-pointer. Brooks stole the inbounds pass after the next Post basket and hit another from distance seconds later. The Eagles used a 10-0 run to pull the score to 51-46 at the 12:21 mark.
The Clippers scored the next five to extend the lead to double-digits again at 9:52.
Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) hit a jumper at 9:27 to start an 11-0 Eagles run that would give them their first lead of the second half. Reynolds had five points during the run, as Post led 59-58 with 6:08 remaining.
Latham made a layup with 2:16 left to give Post their largest lead at 68-61. Megan Burns hit a three pointer with 15 seconds remaining cut the advantage to two at 70-68. Reynolds made two free-throws in the final seconds for the 72-68 final
Four Eagles chipped in double-digit scoring efforts led by Latham with 20 points on 10-for-16 shooting. Reynolds, who shot 12-for-14 from the line, had 19 points. Brooks and Chance rounded the scoring out with 14 and 11 respectively.
Post dominated on the boards, outrebounding the Clippers 56-35. The Eagles held a 21-8 advantage on the offensive glass, which led to a 15-4 advantage in second-chance points.
The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 9 as they travel to take on Caldwell. The Cougars are currently third in the CACC North Division standings.
