PREVIEW: Eagles Welcome Concordia To Drubner On Tuesday Night

Post Riding Four-Game Win Streak Against Clippers

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Eagles come back home on Tuesday, Feb. 7 to take on Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) foe Concordia College. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. Post is looking to extend their four-game winning streak against the Clippers.
 
LAST TIME OUT: GEORGIAN COURT 72, POST 65
With 5:22 remaining in the opening half, and the score 27-23 in favor of Georgian Court, the Lions used a 13-0 run over a span of 2:56 to grow its lead to 15 points, 38-23, with 1:54 to play before halftime. The run capped on a free throw by Brittany Baker.
 
On the ensuing possession, Kelli Reynolds (Milford, Conn.) stopped the Georgian Court run and started a 5-0 Post run to close the stanza for the Eagles. She scored four points during the spurt, including a jumper and a pair of free throws. At the break, Post trailed 38-28.
 
In the second half, the Eagles got as close as five points, 42-37, with 12:48 to play after an 8-0 run. Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.) hit a pair of layups during the run, Reynolds sank a pair of free throws and sophomore Colleen Hanscom (Melrose, Mass.) added a layup for her lone basket of the contest.
 
After the Lions grew their lead as large as 17 points, 63-46, with 4:50 to play, Post scored 19 of the final 28 points in the game to close the gap in the final minutes. Reynolds hit a jumper with six seconds to play to arrive at the final score of 72-65.
 
Reynolds led the Eagles with 21 points. Juniors Latham and Casey Brooks (Highland, N.Y.) joined her in double figures with 17 and 10 points, respectively. Latham finished a rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards. Senior Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also grabbed nine caroms.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
The Eagles and Clippers have faced off nine times since the 1997-98 season with Post winning seven of the contests. Post is currently riding a four-game winning streak against Concordia. On Jan. 24, the Eagles defeated the Clippers 83-74 at Concorida. Post had four players in double figures in the victory, led by Latham with 29 points.
 
REYNOLDS HONORED BY CACC
In the CACC release for the week of Jan. 30-Feb. 5, senior Kelli Reynolds received an Honorable Mention for her great play in the Eagles two games. She averaged 23.0 points per game and grabbed 7.0 rebounds per contest while shooting 53.3 percent from the floor. At Dominican on Feb. 1, Reynolds had 25 points and grabbed eight boards. She made her first five shots on the night and finished 10-for-15 overall. On Feb. 4 at Georgian Court she led the Eagles with 21 points and had six rebounds. Reynolds is averaging 12.4 points per contest and 5.8 boards per game this season.
 
AMONG THE TOP OF DIVISION II:
Through the games on Feb. 2, the Eagles have two players ranked in the top-50 in three categories in NCAA Division II. Latham currently ranks 49th in free throw percentage. She is shooting 72-for-86 from the line for a percentage of 84.1 percent. Chance ranks 18th in rebounds per game and 38th in blocked shots per game. She averages 10.5 rebounds per contest and has 209 total rebounds. She also has 40 blocks, good for a 2.1 blocks per game average.
 
SCOUTING THE CLIPPERS:
Concordia comes into Tuesday's contest having lost its last two games, most recently a 100-51 defeat at Philadelphia on Feb. 4. Krystina Agard leads the offense with 17.8 points per game, good for fourth in the CACC. Senior Chanessa Blakemore leads the CACC and is third in NCAA Division II with 13.6 rebounds per game. She also chips in 11.8 points per contest. Blakemore has 12 double-doubles on the season. Concordia ranks second in the CACC and 15th in the NCAA with 5.5 blocks per game.
 
ON THE HORIZON:
Post will travel to take on Caldwell on Thursday, Feb. 9. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. The Eagles were defeated by the Cougars 71-69 at Drubner on Jan. 26 on a last-second shot by Jeanette Anderson.
