PREVIEW: Eagles Celebrate Senior Night Against Nyack

Post Riding Three-Game Winning Streak Into Tuesday’s Contest

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Post University women's basketball team welcomes Nyack to the Drubner Center on Tuesday, Feb. 21 in the regular season finale. The Eagles are looking for their first four-game winning streak since the 2005-06 season.

Post took control of the game early on with an 8-0 run over the first four minutes. Senior Kelli Reynolds (Milford, Conn.) scored five points in the stretch. The Wildcats answered, scoring seven straight points to pull within one at the 12:36 mark of the first, but would not get any closer.
 
Casey Brooks (Highland, N.Y.) made three from distance as part of a 17-1 Eagles run that build the lead to 25-8 with 5:24 remaining in the half. Post went into the locker room with a 39-18 advantage.
 
In the second half, the Eagles pushed the advantage to as much as 31 points, before taking the 75-49 victory. Latham scored 13 points in the period.
 
Brooks led all scorers with 21 points on 7-for-10 shooting. She also filled the box score with seven rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. Aubrey Latham chipped in 19 points and 12 boards.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
The Warriors have defeated the Eagles in eight of the last 11 matchups between the two. This season Nyack beat Post 71-65 on Jan. 12 for its only victory of the season. The Eagles led the entire first half and went into the locker room with a five-point advantage. Three-point shooting led the Warriors back into the game as they hit four in the second half. Latham led the Eagles with 24 points in defeat.
 
LATHAM CACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior Aubrey Latham was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) player of the week on Feb. 20. She is the first Eagles player to earn the award since Tadj Williams in Jan. 2006.

Latham averaged a double-double as Post earned two victories last week. She began the week with a 24-point outburst in a 69-68 win over Bloomfield at home on Thursday. Latham shot 9-for-13 from the field and hit a pair of three-pointers. She grabbed eight rebounds. She rounded out the week with 19 points and 12 rebounds in a 75-49 victory at Wilmington.
 
For the week, Latham shot 54.5 percent from the field and went 3-for-5 from three-point range. She finished the week with an average of 21.5 points and 10 rebounds per game. Latham has received an honorable mention from the CACC three times this season.
 
AMONG THE TOP OF DIVISION II:
Through the games on Feb. 16, the Eagles have one player ranked in the top 20 in NCAA Division II. Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is 17th in the NCAA with 11.0 rebounds per game. Chance has grabbed 273 boards on the year.
 
SCOUTING THE WARRIORS:
Nyack has lost its last 11 games overall, with its last regular season road victory coming on Feb. 13, 2010 against Goldey-Beacom, 60-49. They are led by junior guard Khamari Tellis who averages 12.1 points per game. She is second on the team with 6.5 rebounds per game. In conference games, the Warriors are fifth with 4.1 blocks per contest.
