WATERBURY, Conn. – With three games remaining on its schedule, the Post University women's basketball team stands three games out of the final Central Atlantic Athletic Conference (CACC) playoff spot. The Eagles welcome Bloomfield, who holds the final spot, to Drubner on Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m. for a pivotal CACC matchup.

Down 38-26 with 6:24 remaining in the first half, the Eagles staged a 24-2 run to close out the period with a 50-40 advantage. Post hit nine three-pointers in the first half, with
Raven Wright-James (Middletown, Conn.) and
Jacquelynne Pugh (Grahamsville, N.Y.) each making two during the run.
The Griffins cut the lead to single-digits at 12:21 on an Ashlen Stayrook jumper that made the score 60-52. Pugh nailed her third from distance at 7:28 to put Post ahead 69-58. Chestnut Hill did not go away, closing the game to 77-73 with 36 seconds remaining.
Casey Brooks (Highland, N.Y.) went 5-for-6 from the line over the final seconds to seal the victory.
Post made a season-best 12 shots from distance, Wright-James and Pugh led the team with three each.
Kelli Reynolds (Milford, Conn.),
Aubrey Latham (Mystic, Conn.), Brooks, and Wright-James all finished in double-digits. Reynolds led the way with 19 points.
SERIES HISTORY:
The Deacons have had Post's number as of late. The Eagles have been unable to claim a victory in any of the previous thirteen contests between the two dating back to the 05-06 season. Earlier this year, Post struggled to find their shot as they fell at Bloomfield 73-45 on Dec. 8.
LATHAM HONORED BY CACC
In the CACC release for the week of Feb. 6-Feb. 12, junior
Aubrey Latham received an Honorable Mention for her great play in the Eagles three games. She averaged 19.7 points per game, grabbed 4.7 rebounds per contest, and dished out 3.3 assists. Latham shot a solid 57.8 (26-for-45) percent from the floor. At home against Concordia on Feb. 7, she finished 10-for-16 from the field for 20 points, while dishing out four assists. On Feb. 9, she made three from distance, scoring 22 points, and grabbing five boards. Against Chestnut Hill at home on Feb. 11, she was 7-for-11 for 17 points.
AMONG THE TOP OF DIVISION II:
Through the games on Feb. 12, the Eagles have one player ranked in the top 20 in NCAA Division II.
Monique Chance (Brooklyn, N.Y.) is 17
th in the NCAA with 10.8 rebounds per game. Chance has grabbed 248 boards on the year.
CACC PLAYOFF PICTURE:
If the Eagles lose one more time this season, their dreams of a CACC playoff bid are over. Post is currently three games behind Bloomfield for fourth place in the CACC North Division and the final playoff spot. Concordia (7-17, 6-11 CACC) is one game ahead of the Eagles, but Post holds the tiebreaker as they are 2-0 against the Clippers on the season. Six of the eight spots in the playoffs are already locked up, with Felician (16-7, 13-3 CACC) and Holy Family (19-7, 15-2 CACC) holding the top spots in the North and South Divisions, respectively.
SCOUTING THE DEACONS:
Bloomfield comes into the contest having lost two of its last three games. The lone win came on Feb. 11 at home against Georgian Court 62-41. Senior guard Emily Hall leads the Deacons scoring effort, averaging 11.7 points per game. Lauren Deverin is eighth in the CACC with 7.7 rebounds per contest. On defense, Vanessa Lamison is 10
th in NCAA Division II with 3.4 steals per contest. The Deacons are 17
th in the NCAA with a 5.61 turnover margin over their opponents.
ON THE HORIZON:
The Eagles will play their final road game of the season on Saturday, Feb. 18 at Wilmington. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
